Nottingham United Take The Senior Section Title: -
In the Notts Sunday Football League Senior Section, Nottingham United FC clinched the title in style with a 2-1 victory of league minnows beeston biz. The match was played at the neutral Greenwood Meadows FC, after the league season ended in farce with beeston biz cancelling a number of fixtures against several teams in the Division, claiming they were too tired to play or had players on holiday, meaning several teams couldn’t get to complete the seasons fixtures, much to their anger and disappointment. Beeston’s future now looks very uncertain after repeated calls from the Member Clubs to have them expelled from the league.

This wasn’t however to take the shine off Nottingham United’s day, as despite having the fixture cancelled by their opponents 3 times during the season, they finally managed to get the games to go ahead in two 90 minute double headers, with Mike Hall scoring twice to give them a 2-1 win in the first match and then ending the season in style with a 6-0 win over the lacklustre beeston in the second fixture. Goals in that match coming from Tom Whiting, Omar Murtaza, Stuart Dinnage and a superb hat-trick by man of the match Akilu Giwa.
