2011-12 Season About To Kick Off: -
With the 2011-12 season only days away, many teams will be looking to better last years achievements or for the new clubs, establish themselves in local football. In the
Nottinghamshire Football Combination League, last seasons Premier Division Champions Catchems Corner will face tough opposition from the likes of Medz Reds, Nottingham Utd and Bestwood MW. In the NSFL Loft In Space will be amongst the favourites to challenge in their 1st season in the Premier Section. In a much weaker EMPAL with only three divisions, the Division 1 title race looks to be very open with the loss of clubs like Arnold Cross Keys and Wollaton Pirates, it could well be a 4 or 5 horse race to the finish. In the Long Eaton Sunday League Premier Division, Eventure are the early pace-setters, after a 6-0 demolition of Attenborough Cavaliers.

Central Midlands Football League Starts In Style: -
With the new North/South Division format in the Central Midlands Football League starting this season, both divisions look very tough, with Clipstone and Yorkshire Main early title favourites. With Yorkshire Main recently beating Clipstone and local rivals Bentley Colliery in the league, it will be hard for any team to see off their challenge this season. At the other end of the table, DFS Welbeck Welfare and FC05 Bilsthorpe look to be finding the new division tough, both at the foot of the table without a point in this campaign so far. The South Division looks to be a very tough league this season, with South Normanton, Pinxton, Basford, Hucknall Town and Nottingham United amongst the early pace-setters. At the bottom of the table Calverton MW and Whatton Utd look to be this seasons whipping boys in the South Division, neither team taking a point yet or looking likely to any time soon.

Early Season Casualties For Several Local Clubs: -
With the new season only a few weeks old, we have already seen a number of clubs go out of business or struggle to continue. Bulwell Town FC became the 1st casualty in the CMFL, resigning from the league just a couple of games into the season. Whatton Utd are reportedly only a few weeks away from following suit, having recently cancelled 3 of their league fixtures due to not being able to field a team and not having a ground fit for Step 7 football. There are also rumours of trouble between joint Managers Ian Gable and Kai Brownhill. Gable who was on the playing staff last season and Brownhill who was sacked from his position at Nottingham Utd in the summer, are said to have a poor working relationship, something which is not being helped by the clubs current off the pitch difficulties. Kirkby Town have also seen recent boardroom troubles, with the resignation of the Management and Chairman, plus the departure of the 1st team playing staff, which has seen the Reserves playing their 1st team fixtures. The MAA saw a large number of clubs depart at the end of last season, but have also had an influx of new clubs, mostly from the North Nottinghamshire area. The EMPAL have suffered most, with several of their biggest clubs seeking football elsewhere and losing a whole division which now see’s them down to three. The NAA have kept the majority of last seasons member clubs and added several new ones to keep 5 strong divisions.
